Immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world with our Nature-Inspired Shadow Box Workshop at Apple House Market. 

In this hands-on, creative session, you'll craft a one-of-a-kind shadow box art piece, incorporating elements from nature from the Arbor Day Farm property. Under the expert guidance of Brownie Hayek, a talented artist known for her wall sculptures, topiaries, centerpieces, and other distinctive designs for home and work spaces, you'll explore the art of creating a nature-inspired shadow box. Brownie will walk you through the process of selecting and arranging materials like dried flowers, leaves, twigs, fruit, seed heads, and more, teaching you how to layer these elements into a visually captivating, three-dimensional piece that tells a personal story or evokes a sense of tranquility. Additionally, Richard Hayek, an accomplished artist, poet, and geographer, will lead a painting demonstration, showcasing his distinctive painting style and the creative process behind his latest work. His paintings are local landscapes that capture the heart and soul of the Midwest, and one of these pieces will be on display during the workshop. Together, Brownie and Richard will provide you with the tools and inspiration to create a unique, nature-inspired work of art.

With over 20 years of experience, our skilled instructors will guide you step by step, from selecting materials to creating depth and balance within your shadow box.  All materials are provided, and no prior art experience is needed—just a love for nature and a desire to create something special!

Choose from two shadow box sizes: large (12”x12”) for $50 or small (7”x7”) for $35. Your ticket also includes a complimentary glass of wine, hard cider, or regular cider, plus a 10% off voucher for locally sourced products at Apple House Market.
